Tony Awards for shortened Broadway season will get digital

Despite being interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, the shortened Broadway season will nonetheless have a Tony Awards.
Tony Award Productions said Fri (Aug 21) that the commemoration of alive theatre will be digital but offered no appointment or streaming platform. Terminal eligibility determinations will be made past the Tony Awards Administration Committee "in the coming days".
Broadway theatres abruptly airtight on March 12, knocking out all shows – including 16 that were withal scheduled to open up. Producers, citing health and city authorities, take three times extended the Broadway shutdown, currently until at least early January.
Only shows that officially opened are eligible for Tonys, then the assumption is that shows that were nevertheless in previews when the shutdown gild came will not be under consideration.

"Though unprecedented events cut the Broadway flavour short, it was a year full of boggling work that deserves to exist recognised," according to a statement past the Broadway League and the American Theatre Fly, which present the annual Tonys.
"We are thrilled non only to have establish a way to properly gloat our artists' incredible achievements this season, but also to be able to uplift the unabridged theatre community and show the world what makes our Broadway family and so special at this difficult time."
